Multimedia Projection Day

Many churches now have installed projection equipment and are looking to use the equipment in a more creative way. This day will show you how to use recorded music and video and incorporate them seamlessly into a Presentation. We also show you how to trim and edit the audio and video before use.

This course is designed for people who have some experience of using PowerPoint and wish to enhance their skills to use it with music, audio and video.

The day is run by Rev'd Dr Mike Bossingham. Mike holds a BSc in Computer Science and worked in IT for some 15 years before entering the ministry. Part of his brief at that time was to do IT training around the world. He has been a Methodist Minister for 14 years and a regular user of data projection for nearly 10 of those years. He created the 'At the Breaking of the Bread' and 'The Digital Hymnbook' CD-ROMs. He has been leading IT training courses for churches since 2000.

Booking is essentialfor this day and a fee of £20 is payable at the time of booking. Please note that this payment is non-refundable. You can bring and use your own laptop, but please do check the specification below.

The morning session, which starts at 10:30am, teaches how to combine music and images/words in PowerPoint. This includes the use of MIDI files and so can help churches that struggle to find musicians. After this and just before lunch we will explore a range of multimedia resources available either on DVD, CDROM or freely available for download from the Internet. These resources will be demonstrated in this session.

The afternoon session explores how to extract clips from Video Tape and DVDs and then use them in PowerPoint. We also look at how to edit audio and video files. This part of the day is very hands-on which means that the numbers attending are limited.

After Tea, we plan to host a Question, Answer and Sharing session which will run until we run out of things to talk about

We will also have our resources stall at the day - so please do remember your cheque book.

Many thanks for an interesting day: I know quite a lot about Powerpoint but I learned a lot of new things today! Thanks

Jerry Cook.

To thank you once again for a truly inspirational day at Burley: both Steve and myself returned full of enthusiasm.  I've just tried scanning in a document and hey ho! - it worked! Our Remembrance Day service went well and everyone remarked about my "reasonable use" of  the Twelve Baskets' video.  I look forward to producing more useful clips

Just to say how much we appreciated Saturday. I came full of fear and trepidation wondering whether it would be all too technical for me - I need not have worried. The most important thing it did for me was to take away the fear factor which is so disabling. Your relaxed style made us all relaxed and I learnt so much (and you explained it all so well and simply). Two years ago I put together a powerpoint presentation on Psalm 95. It has never been used as I have not managed to get any music onto it - I am looking forward to trying again (when I have some time!!!!!).

Thanks very much for the marvellous day today at Hinckley.  A number of the things we did, I have done before, but only by playing around myself.  Today, I found out so many more refined ways of doing these, as well as a number of completely new methods.  I can see that my computer and I are going to be very closely linked over the next few days!!!!

Just wanted to say thanks for a brilliant day - Richard and I feel truly inspired to try all sorts of things now! Just need the time to 'play'...

Rev'd Fiona Solman

Just wanted to say a proper thank you for yesterday. I don't know where the time went but I know I came away with the knowledge that I needed which, for me, is the sign of success. Many thanks.
